More than 400 trees have been planted in Grange Quarry Wood, Oak Beck to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The trees were donated by The Woodland Trust as part of the Diamond Jubilee Programme which aims to encourage community groups to plant trees.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Harrogate, three primary schools, Killinghall, Bilton Grange and Brackenfield took part. Around 30 pupils were supervised by 14 Lower Sixth students from Harrogate Grammar School.

The Mayor of Harrogate, Coun Robert Windass and the Mayoress Sylvia Windass also attended and planted two Jubilee Oak Trees.

Open Country cleared the area ready for planting.

The trees were a mixture of oak, rowan, hawthorn, hazel and birch.
