Police hunt Harrogate Transit thief

Harrogate Police are appealing for information following the theft of a red Ford Transit flat bed tipper truck.

The vehicle was stolen at 12.35pm on Tuesday, October 9 from an address on Yew Tree Lane.

The driver was then seen dumping rubbish on Green Lane, when he was challenged by a member of the public he rammed into the side of their vehicle before driving off towards Pannal.

Garden equipment was stored in the back of the truck and the words Fountain Construction are written on the truck.

The thief is described as white, aged around 30, quite tall with a slim build and mousey coloured hair.

DC Fionna McEwan, of Harrogate CID, said: “The thief who stole the truck showed a callous disregard for the welfare of the public spirited man as he fled the scene where he was dumping rubbish.

“If you know who stole the vehicle or have seen it since the theft I ask you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
