A new care home for people living with dementia opened in Harrogate this week.

Vida Hall offers day facilities, respite and long-term residential care for people living with dementia.

Describing the Yorkshire Bank-funded home as “pioneering”, its owners say it brings together the best in current thinking in dementia care and will set the standards for care homes in the future.

James Rycroft, managing director of Vida Healthcare, the company behind Vida Hall, said: “Vida Hall has been three years in the planning and every single aspect has been thoroughly researched. We have worked with the best in their field, from building and garden design to ethos of care.

“At Vida we firmly believe that, with the right environment and care, people living with dementia can have a long, happy, independent and stimulating life and, in particular, we are very proud to be working with leading experts to demonstrate that there are better alternatives to antipsychotic medication.”

The 70-bed residential accommodation is divided into four specialist units depending on level of care needed.

Day-care facilities are available for up to ten clients who may make use of all Vida Hall’s services and facilities.
