As excitement builds for the arrival of the Olympic torch in the Harrogate district, the Stray has become the centrepiece for celebrations.

Harrogate Council’s parks team has been given special permission to mow rings into the Stray ready for the relay coming past on Tuesday, June 19.

Thousands of school children, as well as many residents from across the district, are expected to line the route during the afternoon and a series of entertainments has been laid on by the council.

Our reporters will be in the crowds interviewing people, taking pictures and tweeting live. Follow @HarrogateHound on Twitter to see what we’re up to and use the hashtag #YorksTorch to join in. We will retweet as many of your pictures and opinions as we can, and they might even make it into print on Thursday, when we’ll have a special feature including pictures from the route.
