Harrogate police are investigating after a man’s jaw was broken when he was attacked outside a take-away.

At around 4am on Sunday October 7, the victim, a 23-year-old local man, was outside Skewers Pizza and Kebab House on Station Parade when an argument between a man and his female companion broke out.

As the victim tried to diffuse the situation, the man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

The man, who was carrying a 70cl bottle of vodka, is described as white, around 18-years-old, 6ft tall with a slim, athletic build. He had short blonde hair with a sweeping fringe and was wearing a grey hoody and blue jeans.

Following the attack, another man helped the victim to his feet. Officers are appealing for him to come forward as he may have information vital to their enquiries.

PC Leah Champion, of Harrogate police, said: “The man who came to the victim’s aid was very apologetic to the victim and it is believed that he may know the identity of the offender.

“I would urge him to come forward as he may have information vital to our enquiries.

“I would also urge anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Leah Champion or Harrogate police.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
