Fire crews have been putting their skills to the test with a major decontamination mission at Harrogate College.
Spectators could have been forgiven for thinking something terrible was taking place, but the event on Sunday was a training exercise to test what would happen if a suspect package was opened.
Harrogate pupils took part in the action-packed role play and dramatic rescue along with scores of firefighters from across the region.
There were officers from more than 10 fire engines, from North and West Yorkshire’s service, as well as specialise detection, identification and monitoring teams.
“This exercise is part of the training programme we have in place to ensure our staff are prepared to deal with a variety of incidents,” said group manager Mal Austwick, thanking the college for their use of the site.
