All day grub: Hookstone Memorial Hall, Low Lane, Thornthwaite will be serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon teas, ice cream 9.30am-4.30pm on Saturday, March 2 and every first Saturday in the month until December. Raising funds for the hall - Charity No: 701972.

Darley paper collection: please leave your papers and magazines out by your gates by 10am on, Saturday, March 2, as Darley Brownies Cubs and Scouts will be collecting in Darley. They cover Darley Main Street, Stocks Lane, Meadow Lane, Station Road/Valley Road, Nidd Orchard and Daleside Park. The Darley Uniformed Groups collect waste paper on the first Saturday of each month. This is an important way for the uniformed groups to fund their activities. The collections include magazines and newspapers but please no plastic covers.

Lent Lunch: at United Reformed Church Dacre Top on Wednesday, March 6 at noon.

Table Top Sale: on Saturday, March 16, 10am-3pm at Dacre & Hartwith Village Hall. Soup and light refreshments available. Proceeds in aid of the village hall. Tables available; large £8, small £5. Further information from Sandra on 01423 780640. Summerbridge WI: the next meeting is on Monday, March 4, 7pm at Dacre Village Hall when we shall be decorating Easter eggs with Mrs Ann Kent. Members should bring chocolate eggs up to around five inches and also a container to take their finished items home. Visitors and new members are very welcome.

Nidderdale Society: the next meeting will be on Monday, March 18. There is a change to the published title of the talk. The talk will still be by local mountaineer Andy Houseman but it will now be titled – A British First; Ascent of Denali (Mt. McKinley North Americas highest mountain at 6194m) by the south face Slovak route. 7.30pm at Dacre Banks Village Hall. The Society also organises walks, most of which are not very demanding. They range in distance from about five to 10 miles. These usually start at 10.30am on the Tuesday of the week following each presentation meeting. At present, there is no charge for persons participating in these walks. The next walk will be Scar House Reservoir on Tuesday, March 26 starting at Scar House Car Park. The leader will be Joyce and the walk will be four miles long. For more information contact 01423 780946.

New Beginnings Exhibition: at The Studio, Dacre Banks, HG3 4EL now on until April 6. An exciting exhibition of works by several Yorkshire based artists and artisans. Featuring work by wood artist Chris Rymer, photographer Anna Lilleegen, artist Katy Penn,
