An Oakdale Avenue resident phoned the fire brigade in the early hours of this morning after discovering their car was on fire.

The owner of the vehicle called the fire service at 3:25am.

A spokesperson from Harrogate fire station said the vehicle was well alight when they arrived.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service have said the fire was started deliberately.
