Brutal attack appeal
Published on 21/02/2013 16:54
A brutal and unprovoked attack on a lone man in Harrogate has sparked a police plea for information.
Two men, one with a pitbull-type terrier, randomly attacked the 44-year-old local man as he walked through Starbeck on a Sunday evening.
The pair punched him in the face and knocked him down, kicking him as he lay bleeding on the ground.
“This appears to have been a wholly unprovoked assault,” said PC David Minto. “The victim was left shaken by the incident.
“I need to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the assault or seen the men responsible, in the area around the time of the incident.”
The attack happened at 8.10pm on Sunday, February 10, between the One Stop shop on Knaresborough Road and Lancaster Park Road.
The victim suffered a nosebleed and bruising to his face.
The attackers are described as being white, aged around 18 to 22, about 5ft 11in to 6ft 1in tall and had heavy builds. The men were both wearing dark clothing.
