Gardeners packed into Knaresborough House on Friday, September 21 to see Knaresborough in Bloom announcing the results of the town’s gardens competition.

Guest speaker Lynda Fussell from the Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group spoke about the need to provide both wildlife friendly planting and facilities for insects, before Mayor of Knaresborough Coun John Batt presented the awards to the winning gardeners.

Chair of Knaresborough in Bloom Christine Willoughby said: “Yet again the gardeners of Knaresborough have excelled themselves. Despite a difficult summer, with some truly dreadful weather, extreme rain and general lack of sun, the gardens in the town looked amazing. Well done to everyone, even if you didn’t win a prize, you are all winners!”

Best Garden was won by Mr and Mrs Tankard of Birkdale Avenue, while Best Garden seen from the street went to Ken Heys of Manor Drive.

The results of the national Britain in Bloom judging will be announced in Guernsey on 6th October.
