Appeal after man attacked in Harrogate
Police tape
Police investigating after a man was injured during an attempted robbery in Harrogate have made a further appeal for information.
The victim, a 66-year-old local man, is recovering in Harrogate District Hospital after suffering injuries to his head, face and body when he was attacked in the Regent Terrace area at around 12.10am on Saturday.
Officers believe that an incident in Devonshire Place around 15 minutes earlier may be linked to the attack.
A group of men were seen arguing over a pushbike outside Harrogate Working Men’s Club and police believe that they may have information that could assist the investigation.
Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the incident outside the club or the attempted robbery to get in touch.
Detective Constable Claire Brown, of Harrogate CID, said: “The victim is continuing to receive hospital treatment for some quite serious injuries and it is important that people with information come forward.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of Regent Terrace and Devonshire Place around the time of the incidents to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Detective Constable Claire Brown or Harrogate CID.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
