Air Ambulance attends A1 smash at Boroughbridge.

A man was airlifted to hospital on Saturday after becoming trapped in a car after a crash on the A1 Southbound near Boroughbridge.

A Land Rover and a Mercedes van crashed just south of junction 48.

Fire crews from Boroughbridge, Ripon and Knaresborough were called at 3pm on Saturday January 12.

Both driver and passenger of the van and the driver of the Land Rover were able to leave their vehicle after the collision.

However the male passenger of the Land Rover had to cut free from the vehicle.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance took the man who is believed to have suffered head, leg and possible spinal injuries to Leeds General Infirmary.
