Members of Pateley Bridge’s Luncheon Club have received a special thank you from the Queen after they sent their best wishes on her Diamond Jubilee.

Volunteers and members at the club, which has been running for 23 years, were thrilled to receive a thank you card and letter from a lady-in-waiting, thanking them for their “splendid card and kind message”.

The club also received a card from the Queen printed with pictures from her 60 year reign, and sending her “grateful thanks for the words of loyalty and support”.

Earlier this year, members decided they wanted to send the Queen a message for her Diamond Jubilee. They all signed a specially printed card, which was then sent special delivery to Buckingham Palace.

Dorothy Robinson, who helps at the luncheon club with coordinator Margaret Kendrew and a team of other volunteers, said the group never expected to receive a reply and were “delighted” when the thank you letter arrived.

The club meets each Monday at Nidderdale High.
