4x4 sets alight

Waiting for Video...

TWO fire engines attended a fire in Pannal at around 1pm on Wednesday, November 7 after they received reports that a car had set on fire.

Four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used by fire crews to extinguish the flames coming from the blue Range Rover.

The area was cleared of bystanders and the road was closed whilst emergency workers dealt with the fire.

The hybrid vehicle has both diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) containers.

Eye witness David Simister said: “The car was well alight by the time fire crews arrived.

“Because of the LPG everyone had to get well back from the fire.”

Fire station manager Simon Render said: “The cause of the fire is under investigation at present.”
