Miss Harrogate winner Olivia Caven plans to bring home the Miss England title, after securing her spot in the contest’s final showdown.
Olivia battled deafness and illness on her road to scooping the Harrogate title, and will now tackle 59 finalists from across the country at the June 13-16 finals in Torquay.
The St Aidan’s pupil, 17, thanked Harrogate Advertiser series readers for their support, and spoke of her determination to bring home the ultimate prize.
Olivia said: “I can win Miss England.
“I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think I could win.”
Olivia triumphed at the London semi-final at the weekend, helped by the volume of text votes she received from Harrogate fans.
She said: “I want to thank everyone in Harrogate who voted, my family, Vicky Findlow, Evelyn Patzor and Garry Plant.”
Mr Plant, of Harrogate Town AFC said: “The club is supporting Olivia.
“We are promoting her career through out network of sponsors and supporters.”
Olivia recently led Town on to the pitch, and the Miss England showdown will happen just two miles from the scene of Town’s historic 1-0 FA Cup win over Torquay United in November.
Olivia will compete in judged stages including a sports round and interview with the judges during the four-day event.
She said: “It is an amazing feeling to have got through to the final. It has been tough but I am looking forward to it.”
