Burnt Yates Cricket Club: on Saturday, August 3, the 1st team is playing Scotton away while the 2nd team is at home Knaresborough Forest 3. Both matches get underway at 2pm.

WI News: Ripley Show is this Sunday and it always provides a good day out. The ladies from the Hampsthwaite branch of the Women’s Institute will be as usual competing with other local groups and the WI tent is always well worth a visit.  

Art Exhibition: the Village Green, Hampsthwaite will be the venue for an exhibition by the Hampsthwaite Group of Photographers and Artists on Sunday, August 11 between 10am-4pm. Local artists and photographers are invited to join in and for more information contact Bryan Thompson at 12 High Street Hampsthwaite or by ringing 770981.

Niddart Trail: still on arty matters this trail is taking place in August. There are 31 venues stretching from Knaresborough up to Ramsgill and Lofthouse and across to Dallowgill. On our patch, the Bay Horse Community Centre in Burnt Yates will be open on August 16 and 17 displaying paintings by the Burnt Yates Art Group in mixed media, watercolours, acrylics and oil. On August 17 Susan Mitchell will be giving a demonstration of painting in miniature at the community centre. Susan will also be holding a workshop on Saturday, August 24 over at Studley Roger Village Hall when the subject is drawing and painting portraits. This two hour session is £24 and to book give Susan a ring on 07932 184659. The Studley Roger Art Group will also be displaying its works that weekend. Wood Turning and Sculpture Exhibition: will be held at the Bay Horse Community Centre in Burnt Yates on Sunday and Monday August 25 and 26 between 10am-4pm with proceeds in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice.

Coffee Morning: will take place at St Andrew’s Church Burnt Yates on Wednesday, August 14 between 10-11.30am. Admission is £2 which will include coffee/tea and home made scones and biscuits. There will also be cake, plant and bric a brac stalls. All welcome.

Concert Cancelled: please note the concert due to be held on August 18 at the Memorial Hall in Hampsthwaite with Jason Travers has been cancelled. On September 8 however, there is an addition to the published programme in that Stephan Smyth and Band will be appearing at the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm.
