Hampsthwaite, Clint and Burnt Yates
WI News: the next meeting of the Hampsthwaite branch of the Women’s Institute will be on Monday, April 8 at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall when Trevor Kent will be giving a talk about experiences while reading electricity meters. If you are interested in joining the group, then go along to the next meeting or call the secretary, Ann Dixon on 01423 569153 for more information.
Hampsthwaite Players: and on the subject of the WI, the production of Calendar Girls which was performed in March to sell out audiences was a tour de force in the already impressive repertoire of the group. It was all totally believable, superbly acted and a triumph from start to finish. Congratulations to all those involved in what was a very moving show. Over £6,000 was raised with the monies going to Leukemia and Lymphoma Research and Pancreatic Cancer UK. I have been asked to thank all those who went along to the show despite the appalling weather, everyone who generously donated prizes to the raffle and supported the players in all sorts of other ways.
Burnt Yates School News: this half term some of the children have had been attending a photography club run by the student teacher Miss Norman. They have had the opportunity of taking photographs and editing them culminating in a display at the end of term. In PE the junior children have been practicing their cha cha slide, and worked out their own sequence to the beats and rhythms of the music. All the children have been learning about fractions with the incentive that chocolate was involved. Is it better to have five eighths or three fifths of a bar?
Thanks: go to Mozi Nami of Phase 4 Computers who speedily provided me with a replacement laptop. I chose it on the Saturday lunchtime, dropped my old one off in Hampsthwaite on Monday morning so the data could be transferred and Monday afternoon, Mozi came up to Clint to return my brand new lap top all ready to go. How’s that for service?
