Hampsthwaite Book Exchange: is today, Thursday, March 14 at the Village Room beginning at 2pm.
Jumble Sale: is taking place at the Memorial Hall in Hampsthwaite on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 1.30pm. Entry is 20 pence. Jumble can be left at the hall on the morning of the sale. No electrical items please.
Hampsthwaite Players: Calendar Girls directed by Chris Bradley is being performed at the Memorial Hall from Wednesday March, 20 to Saturday, March 23. It has been decided by the members of the group that this production will be funded by themselves to enable proceeds to go to leukaemia research. In view of this, the hall will be open from 6.35pm and there will be a bar available. Tickets are on sale at the Post Office and from members of the players and are £6 for adults and £4 for children.
Burnt Yates School News: to celebrate Easter an Easter lunch will be held on Tuesday, March 26. To mark World Book Day on March 7 the junior children paired with an infant to write a story which reflected the younger child’s interests and made him or her the main star in the piece. What a wonderful way of encouraging all ages to participate in writing and expressing themselves. A reminder the school is collecting Active Kids vouchers will are being given out at Sainsbury’s.
Memorial Hall AGM: the AGM for Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall will be held on Monday, March 25 at 8pm. All welcome.
St Andrew’s Church, Burnt Yates: on Passion Sunday, March 17, Eucharist will take place at 9.15am and is the traditional service using the King James Bible.
On Saturday, April 13: a concert by the Steeton Male Voice Choir has been organised. It begins at 7.30pm at Ripley Town Hall. Tickets are £10 and this includes light refreshments. They are available from Gwen Parker on 01423 770235 or Sylvia Loxley on 01423 771683.
