Green Party backs EU at Spring Conference in Harrogate

Having given the opening speech earlier today and spelling out why The Greens are campaigning for Britain to remain as part of the EU, the party’s Spring Conference will continue until Sunday with a packed programme at Harrogate Conference Centre.

Earlier today, Friday, the conference also included a session on the Harrogate Homeless Project.

Tomorrow, Saturday will see a Green Party rally against renewal of Trident at the War Memorial in Harrogate at 1pm.

And there will also be a session about fracking with Ryedale campaigners on Saturday afternoon at 2.40pm.

Off duty, the Greens will be letting their hair down in a variety of ways, including a walking tour of Harrogate.

On a musical note, local acts including Harrogate singer-songwriter John Davey will feature in a music event at the HIC’s Kings Suite tomorrow night, Saturday called A Night Of Free Spirits with an an open mic session for spoken word or music.

Running from 8.30pm to 11.30pm, it will be headlined by Da Vida and The Free Spirits who combine words and rhythm with electronic and acoustic textures.

Open to conference-goers and the general public, entry is free, though donations are encouraged.
