ON your marks, get set ... the countdown is on for this Sunday’s great Knaresborough Fun Run and Gala.
The ever-popular community event, now in its 30th year, usually sees around 1,000 people taking part in the 2.5 mile and 10k runs and thousands more enjoying the varied activities, entertainment and stalls on the fields at King James’s School.
The star attraction this year is a flypast by a Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, due around 10.30am (weather permitting), together with an army assault course, body zorbs, archery, ‘walk on water’, music from Riverside Jazz and a car boot sale.
And if runners haven’t yet signed up – it’s not too late! You can register from 9.30am on the day for the 2.5 mile fun run or the 10k trail run. Entry to the fun run, which sets off at 12 noon, is £5 (£2.50 concessions) and the 10k, at 10.45am, is £10 (which includes entry to the fun run).
The event is organised by the Friends of King James’s and supported by Piccadilly Motors, with money raised going to improve facilities at the school for students and the community.
