Parking charges are to be waived in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Pateley Bridge on one day in the run up to Christmas.
Harrogate Borough Council have annouced the dates for the charge-free days.
In Harrogate and Knaresborough they will fall on Sunday, December 16.
In Ripon the free parking day will be Sunday, December 23.
And in Pateley Bridge the free parking will fall on Friday, December 7, the same day as the town’s St Nicholas Festival Lantern Parade and late-night shopping event.
The plans were initially set out at a borough council cabinet meeting in mid November in a bid to encourage people to shop locally, but the dates were only announced this week.
The scheme has been limited to one Sunday in each town to limit costs, Coun Alan Skidmore, Harrogate Borough Council’s cabinet member for tranport, said.
The lost fees would represent around £7000 a day for the council, he added.
