Crash victims whose car fell down a ravine and flipped onto its roof had to walk for miles to receive help on Monday night.

Fire crews from Harrogate and Summerbridge were called to Hoodstorth Lane in Summerbridge at 11pm, after the Citroen Saxo crashed.

A spokesman for the fire service said four people, two men and two women, walked for “some considerable distance” to find help.

All were taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for cuts and grazes, the spokesman added. The driver was also treated for a broken hand.

No other vehicles were involved.
