FOFWRAP report: (stands for Friends of Follifoot Wild Life Recreation and Play.) A committee has been working on developing a new area in the village for people of all ages to relax, play and exercise. Ideas being considered include children’s play equipment, a wildlife trail, multi-use sports area and outdoor gym equipment. Firstly, Rudding Park estate has recently been granted outline planning permission for the proposal for affordable housing on Pannal Road. Once full planning permission has been granted, we understand that the land behind the new development (and existing houses at Parkside) will be offered for lease to the parish council for purposes of wildlife, recreation and play. This is a positive step forward and we are excited about the opportunity to create a new community facility which we hope will benefit us all. On our side, FOFWRAP has submitted its own pre-planning enquiry to Harrogate Borough Council for the proposed recreational development. Rest assured, no details of the development have been finalised – the application was merely a first enquiry about what the planning permission rules are and what information would be needed to support our application. We are still in the early stages and we want to emphasise that FOFWRAP will only bring forward plans that are appropriate to the village and which reflect what the community wants. To help us achieve this, we will have a series of consultation sessions with different groups within the community. We are hoping to consult with the school children first and are liaising with the school. Whilst we are hoping to raise the majority of the money needed from available grants, there will be some community fundraising activities. So please watch out for forthcoming events and please do get involved – either by volunteering to help or just joining in the fun. Any money raised in the first instance will go to support our initial planning application. Any comments or feedback, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or look out for our minutes on www.follifoot.org.
Follifoot School news: the school council worked very hard creating games, activities and stalls for the afternoon fundraising event for Children in Need. Buns, cakes, juice, milkshakes and sweets were very popular and thoroughly enjoyed. A big thank you to Mrs Mills and the school council for organising and running the event and to all parent volunteers who helped on the day and all our school community for supporting such a worthy cause. A grand total of £245.42 was raised. A fantastic amount of money for such a small but caring school. On Thursday, November 14 the school had a very successful open afternoon based around the theme of friendship. Thanks are expressed to everyone who attended and for joining in the fun activities with the children and being excellent role models and good friends to the school. Little Owls really enjoyed working together on their friendship activities, KS1 were a great help to the reception children and everyone was keen to get involved. All the children produced lovely pieces of work from each activity.
