Famous Agatha film remembered

A NEW book reveals the full story of the time Hollywood's heavyweights came to Harrogate to make a film about Agatha Christie's famous disappearance.

Made in Yorkshire, written by local author Tony Earnshaw, shows how little of the town's scenery had to be changed when the film was shot in 1977, even though the movie was set in 1926.

Inspirational Lilian to receive memorial service

A CIVIC memorial service is to be held in memory of Lilian Mina, who died in April after a courageous battle with cancer.

The service is to be held at the newly-refurbished Royal Hall, in honour of her work to raise 2.7m towards its restoration. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Police cuts support for remembrance parade

NORTH Yorkshire Police has been asked to provide clarification about its policy for policing public events and parades after it revealed it would not stop traffic or close roads for Remembrance Day.

The decision has cast confusion over the official stance of police Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell, who previously said the police would continue to provide support to the memorial service march.
