Ex England, Everton and Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn opened the new Furniture Enterprise at Disability Action Yorkshire.

The Enterprise will sell good quality, pre-used furniture on a commission basis. The showroom, on Hornbeam Park Oval, opened to the public on November 7 with a wide range of furniture available to purchase.

Chief Executive of the charity, Jackie Snape said “The new venture has two main aims. Firstly, any income from the sale of furniture will be re-invested into the charity to enable us to develop our services for disabled people. Secondly, we will be using the enterprise, linked to our Training Service, as an opportunity for disabled people who are seeking paid employment to gain work experience in a variety of roles, including retail and customer care.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response we have had to our request for furniture to sell and are looking forward to opening our doors to the public.”

l Anyone who has furniture they would like the Enterprise to sell on their behalf should contact 01423855424.
