New interactive whiteboards at a Harrogate school are a touch closer to installation following the success of the summer fundraising fair.

The popular annual event at Oatlands Junior School was organised by the PTA and raised over £3,500 towards the state-of-the-art teaching aid.

The Harrogate branch of leading estate agent Manning Stainton was among the companies who provided support, making a donation of £825.

Tricia Morales, Chair of the PTA and a teaching assistant at the school said: “We cannot thank Manning Stainton enough for their amazing donation.

“This contribution, along with the generosity of all the many families and friends who attended the event, means we exceeded the target we set ourselves.

“We still have some work to do in order to purchase the interactive boards but they are now in touching distance.”

The PTA runs a varied calendar of events to help raise funds including bingo, a fish and chip quiz night and a sponsored obstacle challenge.

Peter Clarkson, Manager of the Harrogate branch of Manning Stainton visited the school recently to present the cheque and said: “We are delighted to make the donation to help the PTA with its fund raising effort and learn more about how the money is being used.

“The new interactive boards seem like a great idea and will help the children with their learning. That’s what I call money well spent.”

Manning Stainton has also bought sports kit for Oatlands this year.
