Residents and drivers in Harrogate will face a fresh disruption as the £120,000 upgrade to the Northern Gas Networks's (NGN) distribution network continues.

Work on Wedderburn Avenue begins Monday, February, 27 and will last eight weeks as the NGN replaces 1.3km of ageing metal pipes with more durable plastic ones.

Three way traffic lights will be set up at the junction of Wedderburn Avenue and Knaresborough Road and the pedestrian crossing from the A59 will be temporarily closed from Saturday, March 25 until Sunday, March 26.

The company has apologised for any disruption caused by the works that take place directly on Wedderburn Avenue for the duration of works.

Robert Hope, Construction Services Area Manager at Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with North Yorkshire County Council to carefully plan these works in order to minimize disruption to customers.

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible.”

Engineers will be working on the site Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, with additional weekend work if required.
