King James’s school is gearing up for the annual great Knaresborough Fun Run and Gala.
This year’s popular event, will be held on Sunday May 12 on the school playing fields.
The fun day always attracts several thousand visitors, with around 1000 taking part in the 2.5 mile Fun Run and 150 in the more demanding trail run (approximately 10km) in past years. This year the theme for the event is ‘Our Community’.
Gla attractions include paintballing, for the first time, plus usual favourites such as bouncy castles, obstacle courses, car boot sale, charity stands, tombolas, burger and bacon sandwich bars and plenty more food and refreshment. Live entertainment will include a martial arts demonstration from the Yorkshire Silat Academy, complete with African drummers.
For an application form for the races please visit www.king-james.co.uk/community.html. Entry to the fun run, which starts at 12 noon, is £5 for adults if you pre-book, or £6 on the day, and £2.50 for concessions (£3 on the day). The 10k, setting off at 10.45am, is £10 pre-registered (£12 on the day), which includes entry to the fun run as well.
There will be stalls for local businesses to sell their wares, or for local organisations and groups to display their talents and promote themselves. Local groups will be welcomed free of charge but must pre-book. Contact Mark Laycock on 01423 866061 for details.
The car boot sale is being held again, with £5 pitch charge payable on the day. Gates open for sellers at 8.45am.
King James’s is delighted that Piccadilly Motors are once again the headline sponsors and there are also significant contributions from Emblazon Screenprinting and Embroidery, Supply Desk, Knaresborough
Striders running group, who are managing timekeeping, and Up and Running Harrogate, which is providing timekeeping equipment.
