Harrogate High School’s annual production - this year Magic of the Musicals - played to a packed theatre over four nights.

Primary schools including Willow Tree, Hookstone Chase, Starbeck, Woodfield and Follifoot sharing the vocal and dance duties with High School students on different evenings.

The show, directed once again by the schools Head of Performing Arts, Judith Howe, comprised over 50 student performers including songs from musicals including Les Misérables, Dirty Dancing, We will Rock You, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Rent, Starlight Express and The Motown Story.

Following their success in a charity concert, the school’s ‘boy band returned to the stage.

Liam Gambles, Nathan Malton, Niall Summerton and Ben Robinson performed two Take That classics assisted by the local primary schools around them on stage.

Pincipal Andy Bayston said: “The school production is one of our main events of the year. Seeing students working together in harmony right through from Year 7 to Sixth Form, putting on a fantastic show is something we are very proud of.

“Having primary school inclusion for the second year running also makes the show that extra special - everyone who came thought the show was one of the best yet!”

A school spokesperson said: “The production has allowed everyone to get involved, not only have the school seen performances from year 7 right through to the Sixth Form and the primary school involvement but since rehearsals in September students parents have been hard at work assisting with making costumes. The performances also count towards part of the Year 13 performing arts group A-level course.”
