A POSSE of pupils joined a marathon running physics teacher at St Aidan’s in Harrogate.
Teacher Peter Edwards spent four-hours running around the school field, whose perimeter is one kilometre long, in support of Tearfund, raising money for a primary school for Burmese refugees on the Thai border.
Pupils backed his effort by paying a fee to wear non-uniform, and supported him on the field by both cheering him on and joining in for a lap or two. Special cakes were also baked and sold by pupils.
Mr Edwards is celebrating his 50th birthday by running five marathons and a 50-mile race to raise money for Tearfund. His marathon at the school was expected to raise well over £1,000.
