THE headteacher of Nidderdale High School has stepped down after just 18 months in the post.

Graham Broadbent, who joined the school in September 2010, made the announcement last week and has resigned with immediate effect.

King James’s School in Knaresborough, which has been working in partnership with Nidderdale High since January, has agreed its headteacher Carl Sugden will take the role of executive headteacher for the next few months. King James’s deputy headteacher, Ian Simpson, will be appointed temporarily as associate headteacher at Nidderdale.

The school’s governors expressed their thanks to Mr Broadbent for what he had achieved, praising his “commitment and enthusiasm”. They said they were confident Nidderdale High would continue to develop by working with King James’s.
