Young chefs took part in a Masterchef competition.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 of Harrogate Grammar School took part in the contest to determine the most prom-ising young chef .
Contestants submitted their choice of a two course healthy eating menu that could be completed in one hour.
Preliminary heats were held for each year as the students battled to show off their practical skills and pres-entation techniques which could rival Jamie Oliver himself!
The winner from each year group then devised a differ-ent menu for the final to im-press the judges.
The formidable panel in-cluded executive chef David Carrack who had the diffi-cult task of making the final decision.
Organisers said all the stu-dents thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and David was so impressed with the standard he selected two of the winner’s products to be included in the Hub menus.
The winner of the Harrogate Grammar School 2013 Mas-terchef was won by Alicia Kernaghan from Year 7.
In second place was Odysseus Kalantaridis from Year 9 and in third place was Fiona Boulton from Year 8.
