Students at Harrogate Grammar are celebrating their outstanding results in the extended project qualification, with 80 per cent A* to B.

An extension to traditional A levels, the EPQ sees students conduct an independent research project beyond the curriculum, providing valuable skills for university.

The school has increased participation in the EPQ due to increased recognition by universities, with its largest ever cohort of 53 students receiving results this month.

Coordinator Eleanor Mansfield said: “The results are a reflection on the hard work, creativity and resilience of students who have carried out their projects in addition to their A-Level studies.”

Student Hannah Deacon received an A* for her study.

She said: “I was thrilled with my grade - it was one of the most rewarding results I have received because the project requires you work so independently.”
