THERE’s excitement in the air as one local school gets ready to cheer on the Olympic Torch when it arrives in the district.
Pupils from Scotton Lingerfield Primary School will start the day next Tuesday with a visit to King James’s School for a morning of PE sporting activities.
Following a picnic lunch and dressed in the ‘Cheer Kit’ prizes recently won by the school in a national competition, the children will line the Olympic torch route on Knaresborough High Street displaying the ‘Welcome’ banner they recently made.
The children were really excited, said staff, to open the large Olympic logo-ed cardboard box containing the Cheer Kit which had bunting, ribbon sticks, balloon sticks, wristbands and bibs that spell out the school name in it.
“We are really looking forward to seeing and celebrating the journey of the Olympic torch through Knaresborough with everyone displaying the Cheer Kit with pride,” said the school.
