Tadcaster Grammar School is now a Directly Licensed Centre of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The school can now deliver DofE programmes to young people on its own premises.

“The benefits of becoming a DLC are seen in reduced bureaucracy and a reduction in costs,” said a Grammar School spokesman.

“For the first three years the cost of the licence will be subsidised with money form the Queens Fund we will also have the opportunity to bid for funds to provide equipment, again form the Queens fund.

“In brief becoming a DLC should result in TGS becoming self sufficient in the provision of the DofE award programmes.”

For the past seven decades the DofE has inspired and transformed the lives of millions of young people from all walks of life, through life skills to expeditions.
