A HARROGATE 10-year-old left quadriplegic and reliant on a ventilator after a fall is the focus of a fundraising campaign.
Bel Young needs costly specialist equipment installed in her home and help with ongoing therapy and care costs.
She returned home last month after a 10 month spell in hospital.
She said: “Last June, whilst playing in a neighbour’s garden, I lost hold on the climbing frame and fell.
“I couldn’t breathe and had to be given mouth to mouth until the ambulance arrived. I was rushed to Airedale Hospital and then straight to Leeds General Infirmary where the doctors found I had broken my neck.
“Now I can’t move my arms and legs but the worst thing is I can’t breathe by myself. I have a tube in my neck called a tracheotomy which is attached to a ventilator.
“I’m totally dependent on my mummy, daddy and my nurses for everything I need.”
Donations can be made in collection boxes at Harrogate’s Dacre, Son & Hartley office or cheques can be made payable to The Being Bel Trust, and sent to Rosemarie Fisher, Dacre Son & Hartley, The Estate Office, Station Road, Burley in Wharfedale LS29 7ND.
