Can you handle the heat of Yorkshire’s hottest chillis?
A Harrogate restaurant is holding its annual chilli-eating competition this October and is calling for brave diners to come forward.
Cardamom Black is even offering the winner a dream trip to Iceland and the chance to see the Northern Lights as a reward for their fortitude.
The contest is part of the pan-Asian restaurant’s National Curry Week celebrations and will take place on October 12 at 7pm.
Anyone who thinks they can cope with the spiciest chilli dishes is invited to pit their tastebuds against fellow challengers.
This year, RTC Travel have sponsored the event and decided to offer the winner and their plus-one the chance to cool down in one of Europe’s coldest countries.
Cardamom Black owner Nick Rahman said:
“We wanted to do something different to mark National Curry Week, so naturally a chilli-eating competition seemed like a good idea as all of our customers obviously like hot and spicy food.”
The champion will receive flights from Manchester Airport, a midnight excursion to see the Northern Lights, and three nights in a three-star hotel.
The restaurant, which is located on Cheltenham Parade, will be open as normal during the contest and customers are invited to watch the challenge.
