A fire broke out on board a tractor towing 10-tonnes of grass through Harrogate on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the scene on the A658 between North Rigton and Huby shortly after 3.20pm.

There were long delays along the Harrogate Road while the fire was extinguished, with drivers diverted through upper Huby to avoid the scene.

The blaze, believed to have been caused by an overheating gearbox, destroyed the tractor completely.
