Glasshouses & District Gardening Club: will meet on Thursday, January 17. One of your favourite garden memories. The meeting will be in Dacre and Hartwith Village Hall at 7.45pm and non-members will be welcome to attend.

Women’s Christian Fellowship: the next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 15 at 2pm at Shalom, Main Road, Summerbridge when the speaker will be Hazel Bancroft of Ripon. Tea and biscuits, conversation and fellowship. Anyone requiring a lift, contact Mary Dobson 780371.

Nidderdale Society: the next meeting will be on Monday, January 21 and will be a talk by Dr Mather entitled Costa Rica: Gem of Central America at 7.30pm at Dacre Banks Village Hall. Membership of the Nidderdale Society is open to all persons of all ages. The annual fee is currently £7 per person, the payment of which entitles the member to attend all presentation meetings; it also includes light refreshment. Anyone wishing to attend a one off meeting may do so for a payment of £2. The society also organises walks, most of which are not very demanding. They range in distance from about five to 10 miles. These usually start at 10.30am on the Tuesday of the week following each presentation meeting. At present, there is no charge for persons participating in these walks. The next walk will be Knaresborough Carvings, Toffee Park on Tuesday, January 29 starting at Knaresborough Cricket Club. The leaders will be Anita and Norma and the walk will be four miles long. Winter Exhibition: currently showing at The Studio in Dacre Banks (HG3 4EL). The exhibition includes work from five local artists: photography from Paul Harris, sculpture from Steve Blaylock, limited editions from printmaker Janis Goodman, paintings and prints from Frances Payne and silk art from Jane Carlisle Bellerby. We also have a stunning collection of handmade greetings cards both seasonal and generic. The Winter Exhibition at The Studio is on until January 24 and features stunning, affordable gifts to suit every taste. The Studio is open 10am-4pm, Wednesday-Saturday and is also the working studio of professional artist Frances Payne. WEA Nidderdale Branch: January 2013 Courses for Adults. English Short Stories with Jonathan Brown starts on Friday, January 11, 2pm - 4pm at Summerbridge Methodist Church Hall. 10 weeks. Bird Migration with Sheila Nash starts on Thursday, January 17 from 9.30am at the Pateley Bridge Council Chamber. 6 weeks.
