Macmillan Coffee Day: Judy Barker would like to thank everyone who came and supported her coffee morning on Saturday, September 29 at Christ Church community Centre Darley. £2,100 was raised on the day. Also a big thanks to all her friends who worked so hard to make the event a success.

Library Coffee Morning: at Christ Church Community Centre, Darley on Saturday, October 13. Open to all, not just those wishing to exchange library books. Coffee, cakes and company 10am-noon. Hand made cards for sale.

Dance: at Darley Memorial Hall Saturday, October 20, 8 – midnight. Admission £8 to include supper, dancing to Bon Accords.

Nidderdale Society: at the next meeting Ian Appleyard will give a talk entitled History of Medicine. Monday, October 15 at 7.30pm at Dacre Banks Village Hall. Membership of the Nidderdale Society is open to all persons of all ages. The annual fee is currently £7 per person, the payment of which entitles the member to attend all presentation meetings; it also includes light refreshment. Anyone wishing to attend a one off meeting may do so for a payment of £2. The society also organises walks, most of which are not very demanding. They range in distance from about 5 to 10 miles. These usually start at 10.30am on the Tuesday of the week following each presentation meeting. At present, there is no charge for persons participating in these walks. The next walk will be Kirkby Malzeard area on Tuesday, October 30 starting at Main Street. The leader will be Fwynneth and the walk will be 5.25 miles long. Glasshouses & District Gardening Club: on Thursday, October 18 Sheila Nash will give a talk entitled Birds of Trinidad and Tobago. The meeting will be in Dacre and Hartwith Village Hall at 7.45pm and non-members will be welcome to attend.

Hookstone Billiards and Snooker Club: at Hookstone Hall( HG3 2QN). Would you like to join our club and play in our newly refurbished room on the championship-standard table? We are keen to increase our membership and anyone interested will be most welcome. Coaching lessons for all ages over 12 years will be starting in October. These will be free of charge for 4 weeks. Flu Vaccinations: the Dacre Banks Surgery is now taking bookings for all eligible patients to have their flu vaccination. There will be a special clinic on Saturday, October 20 at 8.30am-12.30pm. By appointment only. All eligible patients are urged to book now to guarantee they will receive it before the flu season starts. Phone the Surgery on 780436 or call in to book your appointment now.

Women’s Christian Fellowship: the next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 16 at 2pm at Shalom, Main Road, Summerbridge when the speakers will be David and Joan Gibson of Bedale. Tea and biscuits, conversation and fellowship. Anyone requiring a lift, contact Mary Dobson 780371.
