Gardening Club: the next meeting of The Glasshouses and District Gardening Club will be held in Dacre and Hartwith Village Hall tonight, Thursday, September 19. Our speaker will be Mr Ian Forbes who will be talking about salvias at Newby Hall, he will be giving demonstrations on cultivation and propagation of these lovely plants. Coffee Morning: at Dacre URC school room on Saturday, September 21, 10am-1pm. In aid of Guide Dogs. Tombola, cakes, plants, books, jigsaws. All welcome.

Macmillan Coffee morning: Pateley Bridge Methodist Church will be joining in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support . Do come and join us for drinks and cakes in our coffee lounge on Tuesday, September 24, 10am-noon and support this wonderful organisation.

Macmillan Coffee Day: Judy Barker and friends will be hosting another Macmillan Coffee Day on Saturday, September 28, 10am-1pm. This year the event will be held at Darley Memorial Hall, Sheepcote Lane, Darley. Due to all your support for these amazing people who help so many affected by this terrible disease, we now need a larger venue, more space to sit and chat while enjoying tea, coffee, scones and wonderful cakes, also there is more car parking. We also have a tombola, raffle, cake stall, and other stalls. Last year over £2,000 was raised, so please come and support this worthwhile cause.

Pink Craft fair: in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Centre, Leeds will be held at Dacre & Hartwith Village Hall in Dacre Banks on Saturday, October 5. It will start at 11.30am, in time for morning coffee, and will continue over the lunchtime period so sandwiches and cakes etc will be available, it will finish at 2.30pm. There will be a good variety of craft stalls selling a range of products including hand made cards, toiletries, cosmetics and jewellery. There will also be a raffle, tombola, children’s tombola, face painting, Pink Stall and lots more. Reflexology/reiki/colours are also on offer on the day. Appointments are for 30 minutes and will cost £10. If you think you would be interested please contact Sally on 01423 781465 or 07754 237721 to make an appointment. Booking would be preferred but not essential.

Please come along and support us on the day, alternatively if you can’t join us on the day but you would like to help please search your cupboards for any unwanted items that can be used on the tombola, children’s tombola, raffle or Pink Stall. Alternatively if you can bake cakes, scones or biscuits these would also be very welcome. If you have anything that you would like to donate please contact Sally on 781465 or 07754 237721 who will arrange to collect them from you.

Dr Thirsty returns to Darley: Dr Thirsty, the ever-popular revival band, make a welcome return to Darley Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 12. Dr Thirsty put the emphasis on enjoyment of their music for all ages, and include music from the 1960s right up to the present day. You can dine and dance the night away to their music on Saturday, October 12. The event runs from 7.30-11.30pm and the tickets are £17.50 to include a delicious two-course hot supper.
