A woman was taken to hospital after robbers pushed her to the floor in a shop in Mayfield Grove, Harrogate.

Staff were unloading cigarettes from a van into Mayfield Stores when three men in a maroon coloured Ford Focus pulled up.

Two men from the car approached the van while staff were distracted and began to remove cigarettes from the van.

A member of staff challenged the suspects at which point they pushed her out of the way. The woman fell to the floor and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to an arm injury. No weapons were involved in the incident.

The two suspects stole around £500 worth of cigarettes and tobacco products as they left the scene in the Ford Focus which was driven by a third suspect.

Police have carried out door to door enquiries and are examining CCTV footage.

They are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward along with anyone who recalls seeing a maroon coloured Ford Focus travelling in the Mayfield Grove area between 11.45am and 12.15pm on Thursday September 5.
