Vandals caused £1,800 of damage to fitness equipment at a school for children with learning difficulties.
Three outdoor machines were targeted at Forest School on Park Lane on Thursday night.
The kit, which includes two outdoor air walkers and one outdoor skier, was bought at a cost of £7,000 in 2011, funded by a lottery grant and cash raised by pupils.
Headteacher Peter Hewitt condemned the ‘malicious’ attack, saying the temporary loss of the equipment will hamper the learning of his vulnerable pupils.
Mr Hewitt said: “We have had some vandalism in the past, but this is malicious.
“You don’t break this equipment without having a good go at it.”
