A 20-YEAR-OLD Harrogate man has been sent for trial before a judge and jury, accused of a serious sexual offence against a woman in the town.

Oliver Thomas Baker, of Charles Avenue, did not enter any plea when he appeared before Harrogate magistrates last Thursday charged with raping a woman over the age of 16 on December 5 last year.

Court chairman Graham Saunders told Baker the case could only be heard before a judge and bailed him to make an initial appearance at York Crown Court today. He was warned not to communicate with the complainant either directly or indirectly in the meantime.
