Thieves have stolen lead flashing worth £8,000 to £10,000 from the roof of a building in Harrogate, prompting a police appeal for information.

Investigating officers say the theft happened some time last weekend, between Saturday, October 18 and Monday, October 20, at a property on St John’s Well, on Wetherby Road, by the Stray.

“It is believed that the cost of replacing the lead and repairing the damage caused during the incident will amount to between £8,000 and £10,000,” said police in an appeal.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, selecting option two and asking for PC Graham Harding or Harrogate police.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to graham.harding@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
