Thieves smash way into Harrogate car

Thieves have smashed their way into a car in Harrogate to steal two leather bags left inside.

Police say a small silver Mercedes parked opposite the Co-op on St Winifred’s Avenue was targeted by thieves who used a concrete slab to smash in the front passenger window.

Two black leather bags were stolen from the car and investigating officers are now appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.

In particular, officers would like to speak to anyone who saw a man in the area around the time of the incident, between 9pm and 9.2pm on December 30.

He is described as being around 5ft 9in tall and was wearing a grey and white checked jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for PC Brendon Frith or Harrogate police.
