AN ILLEGAL worker has been detained by border police after a raid at the newly opened Shabab Pavilion, at the site of the former Rajput Restaurant.
Specially trained officers from the UK Border Agency carried out the raid on Cheltenham Parade last Friday night, arresting an Afghan man.
They found the man had no permission to work in the UK and he was arrested for failing to leave after his asylum claim was refused.
The Shabab restaurant was served with a civil penalty notice, which could see it fined up to £10,000.
They could also face prosecution if they are caught hiring illegal workers again.
