A spate of vandalism which has seen almost 30 cars in Harrogate damaged in less than a month has prompted a police plea for vigilance.
Since June 1, Harrogate Police has received almost 30 reports of damage to cars in the town.
Now one officer, PC Ed Rogerson, has taken to YouTube to ask residents for help in catching those responsible.
“The most common forms of damage is wing mirrors being smashed off or windscreen wipers being snapped off - usually overnight,” he said.
“These crimes are spread over the whole of Harrogate so it is unlikely that it’s the same person responsible for them all.”
PC Rogerson has created a video which he has published on YouTube. He filmed it on Monday on St Mary’s walk, which was the site of some vandalism on Friday, June 15.
In this instance, as many as 10 cars had their wing mirrors smashed and bent backwards.
“We are relying on the help of the public,” said PC Rogerson, who covers Pannal, Rossett, the Stray and Beckwithshaw.
“If you see anything please do call 999 and we will get officers on the scene.
“As the offences are being committed overnight it may be worthwhile to check your street by looking out of your window before you go to sleep and if you’re up during the night - especially if you hear any disturbances coming from outside.”
