MYSTERIOUS items including a stone squirrel and a wooden hen have been found abandoned in a garden in Thirsk.

Police believe the items have been stolen and left in the garden as a prank and they are trying to trace their origins.

As well as the stone squirrel and the wooden hen, there is a black metal cockerel weather vane and a solar powered garden light.

PC Duncan Pears, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Although we think the items were left in the garden as a prank, they must have been taken from somewhere and someone must be missing them.

“If you think the items belong to you, they are currently in the possession of the police, so please get in touch and we will arrange for you to have them back.”
