A man matching this E-fit description is wanted by police for grabbing a woman’s bottom in Thirsk.

Police say the man, believed to be in his 30s, grabbed a 37-year-old woman in the town before apologising and walking off.

Sgt Frances Hannan, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Clearly this was a rather upsetting experience for the victim and we need the public’s help to locate the suspect.”

The assault happened at around 9.30pm on Sunday, July 15, when a local woman was walking along Finkle Street.

Police say she was approached from behind by a man wearing a white top and dark blue jeans, who grabbed her bottom before apologising and walking off.

The victim reported the matter to the police immediately but despite extensive enquiries officers have been unable to trace the suspect.

He is described as white, aged in his mid 30s, around 5ft 6in tall with a thick set build and a very pale complexion. He had dark brown hair, beard and moustache and thick, dark-rimmed glasses.

Police are appealing to anyone who can help identify the man to get in touch.

Sgt Hannan said: “I urge people to take a look at the E-fit and contact the police or Crimestoppers if you think you can help identify the man in question.

“I also ask anyone who has been approached in similar circumstances to get in touch without delay.”
